I decide to start today with CLOSE. I don't really have a reasoning or a justification for this, but let's see what happens. All right, two letters are green: the L and the E. With the L in that spot, I feel like P has to be the first letter. A couple of other consonants could work, as could any vowel, I suppose, but my mind goes immediately to a PL start for the word. I quickly type in PLANE for my second guess and see the P, L, and A turn over green. Could this be a solve in two?!? Could it?!?
No.
The N is gray. Damn. So close. I want to quickly type in PLATE and call it a day, but something in the back of my mind tells me to slow down and take a beat to think about it. I do a scan of the remaining letters to see if anything else works. The only thing I'm seeing that could've worked was PLACE, but we know that is wrong from the first guess. So PLATE it is.
Feels good to get a quick solve. But a part of me can't help but wonder how great it would've been to get the solve in two guesses.
