I didn't screenshot my Wordle yesterday, so I don't remember the details of my solve. But I did get CEDAR to extend my streak to 17. I think I got in four, but memory is faulty, and I can't be sure about that.
This isn't really a weekend catchup, since I'm doing Sunday's puzzle right now. Thinking of CEDAR, I open with PLANK. I get greens for the first three letters and for a brief moment, I think I'm about to solve in one at which point I can retire because there is nothing left to accomplish. Alas, I do not solve it in one guess, and you (is there an audience?) are stuck with me. I try PLATE and get no new correct letters. Now I stop and think about this because I really want to get a solve in three. Let's see, there's PLAID, PLAIT, um... PLATO? Wow, I can't really think of anything beyond those words. I go with PLAID for my third guess. And it's wrong.
And I need to think of something else for my fourth guess. I'm guessing there is a double A at this point. Would PLAYA work? That's beach in Spanish, but has probably crossed over to English. PLAYA is accepted, but it's not the answer. I was right about the second A, though.
Okay, I just have to go through my available letters to find this answer. I start at the bottom row working from right to left. PLAMA? No. PLABA? No. PLAVA? PLACA? PLAXA? PLAZA?!? Ah yes, PLAZA! I do a quick check of the other available letters and don't see anything that would fit. It better be PLAZA. And it is.
PLAZA is a really cool answer. I'm a bit disappointed in my solve, though, because I was fishing for two letters the whole time. Man, I feel like I should've gotten there faster, but looking back at my process, the only real downfall was PLAYA over PLAZA. Oh well, the streak is up to 18.
