Wordle 662: No me gusta

 I start with PULSE to see if three is something going on with all the U's lately. Everything is gray. I guess it was all just a weird coincidence. I really hate when a first guess gives you nothing, it is such an odd feeling of being adrift. Oh well, since I like to start with getting some vowels on the board, I briefly consider AXIOM, but I don't like having the X in there, so I shift over to DRAIN as my second guess. I can figure out if there is an O in this word or not later. R and A are yellow, with everything else being gray. So I've got somewhere to go.

Now I have to decide if I think this word has just one vowel or two. I briefly consider just going with only A and trying to eliminate consonants, but that feels a bit too much like shooting in the dark to me. So I fiddle around for a bit until I land on CARGO as word that will help me determine where to go with my next guess. Ok, I get a green for the R and yellows for A and O. 

I want to guess MORAL, but I know the L is wrong. I need to figure out where the A goes. When I put A in the first position, I think ARROW, but again, I know an R can't be in that spot. I can't think of what I would put as the second letter if A at the start, so I return to having -ORA- and working out from there. BORAT is "nice!", but won't be accepted as a guess. FORAY ends up being my fourth guess, and I get green boxes for the ORA in the middle.

So now I've just got to figure out the first and last letter. This isn't a position that I like being in, since I'm essentially guessing at this point. I wonder if is spelled TORAH or TORRAH? I also wonder if there is there is repeating letter I should be using. I'm getting nowhere, so I go with TORAH. Unsurprisingly, that is not correct. Now I'm really stumped. I don't see what the answer can be. I'm thinking about just typing and seeing what gets accepted. I don't know. My final guess JORAM which is wrong and was, honestly, the first random collection of letters I could come up with that was accepted.

The answer was BORAX which is a type of salt. I feel less bad because this is not a common word. Oh well. My streak was only at 6 due to having not played last week. Not a fan on today's Wordle, but maybe that's just sour grapes on my part. Streak starts again tomorrow.
